Petite Collection's very first mini solo for 2024 is with one of our most popular artist's Ka Mo whose work is always snapped up super-fast! With Sell out shows under her belt and well-known fans like Tash from @thecolourtribe singing her praises things are on a roll!

Tash owns several of Ka's pieces and has described her work as "versatile joyous and uplifting.. you can tell she absolutely loves what she does (and) is also very disciplined and works hard".

We wholeheartedly agree with Tash and have really enjoyed getting to know even more about Ka's vivid Australian landscapes, her family life and a little bit of her journey into becoming a successful full-time artist.

How long have you been painting for?

I've painted ever since I was a little kid but started to sell my work in 2020.

What is it about the Australian countryside that inspires you?

Nature gives me a sense of peace and freedom. I'm particularly fond of the old Australian gum trees and the winding country roads that have so many stories to tell.

The colours that you use are so joyful. Is colour an intuitive thing for you or do you plan out your colours before you paint?

I have a set of colours that I use often. When I paint, the composition always comes first and then I follow on with my colours depending on how I want to describe the scene.

You recently became a full-time artist how does it compare to working in the corporate world?

Working full time in my studio for my very own art business gives me lots of joy and flexibility particularly when it comes to looking after my young family. Surprisingly there are many similarities in both areas. I have been able to apply many corporate skills into my art business and that's enabled me to resolve lots of issues over the years.

You have a very busy family life. How do you manage to find time for your art with small kids?

I think everything is possible, you just need LOTS of passion and hard work. Painting has become part of my life now, it's equally important as looking after my family. I don't feel like I need to find spare time for it, painting comes very naturally and I'm so thankful to my lovely family, they all support my passion and make it work so well.

Can you tell us what's inspired this latest mini solo collection?

Whenever i travel down to the country I'm consistently looking for interesting compositions. I really enjoy looking at different tree shapes, looking up from the paddock to the sky, the feeling of being near and far and the freedom you get from the sunset sky. I was excited to put some of it down to this mini collection.
